DDay One – Rhythm Incursions Podcast ‘Think and Grow Rich’

https://i0.wp.com/www.rhythm-incursions.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/DdayOne_session_8_med.jpgThe boys over at Rhythm Incursions have dropped their first podcast for twenty ten, and my cork, what a phenomenal way to start the year!

DDay One from Los Angeles has taken the reins for a concept mix constructed around a theme from a best-selling book that attempts to “motivate the listener”. The concept itself sounded a little weird at first to me, but knowing Rhythm Incursions and their insistence on second to none quality, I decided to give it a go. What I found was a well constructed upbeat hiphop and glitch mix that ticks all the right boxes. Although, as previously mentioned, its not your normal run of the mill in and out DJ mix. DDay One has used it as a tribute to ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill – a best-selling book released in the mid 50s that focused on motivation and, well, growing rich? He’s used clips from an old LP of the same name, and constructed the mix around them. It works extremely well and helps to add purpose to the journey he’s taking the listener on.

I wont go into too much depth, but instead quote DDay One:

This session is along the lines of the Blend Meditation mixes in that the music was specifically chosen to create an atmosphere that motivates the listener.

This time it’s a tribute to the Great Depression era best-selling book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Blended in between classic breaks, atmospheric pulses and world premieres are brief descriptions of the principles of the text, taken from an LP of the same title narrated by Earl Nightingale (circa 1956).

The 13 Principles of “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill:
Desire, Faith, Auto Suggestion, Specialized knowledge, Imagination, Organized Planning, Decision, Persistence, Enthusiasm, Power of the Master Mind Group, The Brain, Subconscious Mind, The Sixth Sense

Dday One

It’s safe to say that it’s probably one of my favourite mixes to hear this year. It’s cruisy, layback, upbeat and intelligent, all within a 60min time frame. It by all means does it’s job in “motivating the listener”, so if you need something that’ll get you up and jivin, this would be it. Overall it’s bound to appeal to all hiphop heads, no matter how hardcore, and with plenty of elements of glitch it’ll have the nuskoolers on-board too! Put simply, its a unique concept mix that’ll keep you interested from start to end.
