Yesterday saw pre-order’s go live on Distinctive Records website for Hybrid’s long awaited Classic’s album. A special edition 4 disc box-set, apparently only available via the Distinctive Recs website, the album relives some of the groups finest achievements since their first album, Wide Angle, was released in 1999. The 4 disc set covers every corner […]

Unkle’s new album, ‘Where Did The Night Fall’, is set for release on May 10th. An avid fan of everything Lavelle creates under the Unkle banner, I’ve been following them ever since I was first introduced. From their first album, the hip-hop orientated ‘Psyence Fiction’ to their last release, the alternative-rock ladened ‘War Stories’, I thoroughly enjoy everything they touch. Never ones to stick with the one sound and forever changing with the times, WDTNF is set to break new ground for the group.

We’ve been following the progress of Hybrid’s upcoming album for quite some time now, and as promised I’m keeping up to date with any and all news that comes my way. Earlier this morning the official ‘Disappear Here‘ website went live with a heap of juicy album related content and updates. On the website, you’ll […]

I come across a heap of really awesome music via my net travels. Nearly everything I stumble upon I post through my Twitter account. All the tunes and info I share is Blog-worthy, yet I really don’t have that much time available to keep up to date with it all. So for those that aren’t […]

As mentioned in my previous post on Hybrid’s upcoming album ‘Disappear Here’, the boys have now finished mastering and have set an official release date for the new album! 29th March is the date and in the meantime they’ve planned to release their first official single, ‘Break My Soul’, as a free download via the Distinctive Records website sometime in February.

Was absolutely gob-smacked when Shadow posted an update via his Facebook fan page late last week about him donating one of his Technics SL1200 Turntables to Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake appeal. The thing that got me the most, was that it wasn’t just an old 1200 he had out the back of his studio, it was one of the exact turntables he used in sampling and constructing his first album ‘Endtroducing’. One of the most prolific hiphop albums of the 90s, and one which helped pioneer the whole art of sampling. For those not in the know, it’s listed in the Guinness Book of Records for being the first ever album constructed entirely out of samples – quite an achievement if you ask me!

A bit slow on the uptake here, I’ve only just come across the recent colab from Four Tet and Burial. A fan of everything the icey dubstep producer Burial (aka William Bevan) touches, and a newly introduced lover of Four Tet’s (aka Kieran Hebden) unique blend of hiphop beats and jazz elements, i was rather excited when news of the colab first hit my ears. Needless to say i was quick to source out further information about the release.

Yep, you read it. Hybrid’s new album has officially been completed and is currently being mastered for an early 2010 release! Excited much? FOOOKEN YES!
